No, but pellet stoves do need to be vented outside. This can be done with a pellet vent pipe. Although some pellets can be installed with through the wall kit, it is recommended that the venting configuration include a vertical rise.
The frequency of cleaning is dependent on your frequency of use and the ash content of the pellets being used. High quality fuel will prolong the interval between cleanings. Typically pellet stoves need cleaning every 4-6 weeks including cleaning the inner firebox, the heat exchanger, the hopper and the ash pan. It is best to start at the top of the firebox and work your way down. The cleaner the stove the better the heat transfer and efficiency. Regency pellet units come with a large ash pan; however ash content produced is greatly dependent on the quality of pellets you use in your Regency Greenfire stove / insert. Wood pellets are made of sawdust and other wood waste. The raw material is pressed and dried. There is no glue or adhesives used in pellets. The Regency Greenfire stove & insert are high efficiency units which require the use of pellets with 3% ash content or less. Check with your local Regency dealer for fuel recommendations.
