All Regency appliances are certified to safety standards and regulations set out by the American National Standards Institute and the Canadian Standards Association.
Our safety standing pilot ensures no gas flows to the unit when it is not being used.
Prior to shipping to your Regency dealer, every fireplace is put through a sequence of safety checks and quality assurance tests to ensure your Regency fireplace is safe and reliable.
Every Regency gas fireplace, insert and stove is equipped with safety features such as a 100% fail-safe shut-off valve. If the pilot flame goes out, the gas flow will automatically turn off. In addition, all models must meet strict safety certification requirements.

No. All gas units are tested and certified to burn natural gas or propane only.
Yes, Regency offers several gas inserts designed to fit into existing masonry and factory built wood burning fireplaces.
The top surfaces of Regency stoves get hot enough to boil water or keep soup simmering. However, you should never try to cook food on open flames (gas or wood), since you risk damaging the logs or other equipment, and you will void your warranty. You should also never operate your Regency gas model with the glass removed or the door open.
Installation should be completed by an authorized & factory trained Regency dealer to ensure your installation is approved as per regulations, building codes and safety requirements.
Clearances to combustibles around and above fireplaces is not the same as clearances to TV’s and other electronic appliances. Televisions and electronics in general are manufactured and assembled using many variations of materials and are subject to damage from far lower temperatures than wood etc. Many of these materials can be affected by temperatures far lower than those approved and considered “combustible”.
To be safe when determining what clearances are required from a TV or other electronic device to a fireplace, you should find out from the manufacturer/distributor of the component, not the fireplace. Clearances to combustibles around and above a fireplace can be well within certified specs but could still possibly be too close for TV’s and other electronics.
Yes. A gas insert can be installed in a existing masonry fireplace or in a factory built metal wood fireplace. Both a masonry of factory built fireplace must be in good working condition before a insert retrofit.
The glass on your Regency gas fireplace should only be removed when the fire is turned off and the unit has cooled down to room temperature. The fireplace must not be operated without the glass door securely installed.
No! The beauty of Regency Direct Vent technology is that you do not necessarily need to go up through your roof to terminate the venting. All you need is proximity to an outside wall, the distance to which depends on the model you choose. Not only does this make installation more flexible, but it also keeps the costs down. And with our sleek and attractive patented AstroCap horizontal termination cap, you won't be cluttering up the outside of your home either as you can paint the cap to match & blend in with the outside of your home.

No, they do not. Regency uses a standing pilot ignition system, just like a gas water heater. This system operates with a pilot light so there is always a flame to ignite the gas. The pilot light also generates the power needed to operate the valve, so that if the pilot light gets blown out accidentally, the valve shuts off and the gas flow stops. The pilot light feature makes operation both easy and safe. (Note: Regency models do require AC power for the blower to work, but do not need AC power for the fire).
No. Regency fireplaces are approved with installations using several venting configurations; you can install your fireplace virtually anywhere. Your local Regency dealer will assist you in determining the best venting option & installation layout for your home.
Depending on the model you choose, you can install as close to 2" from the rear or side wall. This means more space in your room, and less cost for installation. Be sure to check each stove's clearances before deciding.
There are several ways of controlling your Regency gas insert, stove or fireplace. The standard method is with the on/off switch that comes standard with every unit. Another method is to have your dealer install a remote control, which allows you to operate your Regency from the comfort of your couch or lounge chair. The final method is to hook up your Regency to a wall thermostat, and let it run itself according to the desired room temperature.
If you already have a brick or stone fireplace, or a factory-built fireplace, and you want to convert it to gas, then the most cost-effective solution is an insert. If you are remodeling a part of your home that never had any kind of built-in structure, then you need a Direct Vent fireplace that does not require an existing opening or chimney.
With Regency, your options are several. First, you can install a rear vent direct vent stove, which vents directly out the back with no vertical pipe whatsoever. If this is not possible, you can minimize the amount of visible pipe with either the 2-foot or 4-foot AstroCap horizontal termination kits for DV stoves. These kits use the minimum required height for our stoves, and then turn 90 degrees to go out your wall instead of up through the ceiling.

You will need to cut two holes for the fireplace, one for the vent pipe and another for the gas pipe. However, you can install a Regency fireplace directly against the wall, and then use a cabinet mantel to finish the job ). Regency dealers carry a variety of cabinet mantels as well as various finishes & sizes. Mantels are the easy solution to quick and economical installation needs.
Regency gas appliances are all approved to burn either natural gas (NG) or Propane (LP). A propane conversion kit is available to convert most Regency fireplaces from NG models LP, or they are otherwise available in the dedicated fuels (NG or LP).
Chances are there will be a gap between the insert and the inside of the fireplace. That is why we offer a range of faceplates designed to cover the gap. The faceplate also houses the on/off switch and fan control, so you don't have to crouch or bend down to operate your insert.
A B-Vent fireplace draws air necessary for combustion air from within the home. The combustion by-products or flue gases are hot and naturally rise up through the vent which provides a route for these hot gases to escape from the house.
A direct vent fireplace has a completely sealed combustion chamber which allows it to vent directly out a side wall or through the ceiling of your home. The benefit of this system is that it brings in air from the outside of the home rather than using the room air.
Regency direct vent fireplaces use a co-axial venting system. The co-axial vent system has the exhaust pipe within the air intake pipe which protects any surrounding combustible material from the high temperature of the flue gases as well as preheating the outside air prior to it being introduced to the combustion process.
A ventless (or vent-free) fireplace uses room air from the home for combustion and it also releases the combusted exhaut (which carries harmful substances and chemicals including carbon monoxide and carbon dioxide) back into the home. Ventless fireplaces will likely cause poor indoor air quality and moisture issues in your home. Vent free models are prohibited for use in Canada. Regency does not make any ventless appliances.
These terms refer to how a gas appliance takes in the air it needs to burn gas. A B-vent unit draws air from inside the home, through ports / openings in the firebox itself. A Direct Vent unit draws air through a pipe from outside the home, into a sealed firebox. Direct Vent models are usually more efficient and safer for today's airtight homes, since they do not use inside air or cause a conflict with range hoods and bathroom fans circulating the same air. You can install a Regency direct vent fireplace or stove directly to the outside of your home, no chimney required. B-vent units are generally less expensive to install, but are more sensitive to air flow inside the home.

Natural gas (NG) is lighter than liquid propane (LP). Natural Gas contains 1000 BTUs per cubic foot, while Propane contains 2500 BTUs per cubic foot. Natural gas enters your home through your local gas lines while propane is stored in a tank outside your home.
A gas fireplace insert is needed for converting from a wood-burning fireplace to a Gas Fireplace. If you are looking for a unit to provide supplemental heating, as well as the beauty of a glowing fire with the flick of a switch or the turn of a thermostat with no mess or fuss, then a
Regency insert is the answer.
Yes. All our Regency gas fireplaces, inserts and stoves are designed to operate during a power failure.
